West Main St -- From Kenyon House to Laurence Home

West Main St from the Kenyon House to the Laurence home which later became the McNitt home. You can actually see the Gardner House sign at the far right of the image.

From left to right I read the notes above the buildings as

Mrs. Laurence Residence

Chronicle Office

Hardware Store

Drug Store

Potter Bros Store - View a Potter Brothers ad in the April 16, 1913 edition of the Morris Chronicle by clicking on the link below the photos.

The photo above was taken on Nov 11, 2021. The buildings are nearly unchanged, but ornamental pieces have been removed as they became a hazard to people walking below. Kenyon House had a new store front added and was last used as an antique store, now closed. Next to that in Potter Brothers building is the US Post Office. All the other stores are now used by H.W. Naylor Company. https://www.drnaylor.com/about/

Mrs. Laurence's house, last owned by the McNitt family was torn down. The last house in the scene was C.W. Carey's Meat Shop. There's a color view available of W. Main St. if you click on the links below.

My place of retirement when day is done. Three windows are the corner building are marked. That is perhaps the room of our unknown author of this card.
